What does Hunger look like when it comes to God? Are you Hungry? Are you satisfied? These can be tricky questions when it comes to ones walk with our Father.

My wife and I were eating at this Chinese buffet in our town once early in our relationship. We had only been dating for a month or so. I went up to the buffet and loaded up my plate with all of my favorites. I walked back to the table, noticing how amazingly beautiful my “girlfriend” was. She stopped the rooms she walked into. I sat across from her just gazing at her thinking how lucky I was to be blessed with such an amazing person to do life with.

Back to the food.

This restaurant had these bite size pieces of crab meat wrapped in bacon and doused with some kind of amazing asian sauce, they were to die for. I was about to find out that my wife-to-be didn’t like sea food. I asked her, “Do you want to try this delicious piece of awesomeness?” She wasted no time in letting me know how much crabs reminded her of spiders, and would not have any of it.

I knew that she could grow to love it if I could just get her to try just one morsel of this delectable piece of heaven. She was very determined that crabs were spawns of spiders thus being from the pits of hell. We began to bicker back and forth, both totally convinced of our taste buds.

I have often looked back on this moment of our courtship, still knowing in the back of my mind that she would fall completely in love with the crab if she would only taste and see! Holy Spirit often teaches the most epic lessons in moments of every day living, this was no exception!

If you Have tasted from the Lords Liquid undoing Love, you probably get frustrated at times at those who are convinced, wether they be inside or outside the body of believers, that God is Love in their mind but don’t piss Him off or He will have none of you!

God is Love, this is a “drop the mic” kind of statement if you know the biblical definition of Love!

1 Corinthians 13The Message (MSG)

The Way of Love

13 If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.

If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing.

3-7 If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

8-10 Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled.

11 When I was an infant at my mother’s breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good.

12 We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!

13 But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.

The Bible says, “Oh taste and see that the Lord is Good”. The Lord showed me that it is impossible to have a hunger or craving for a food that you have never even tasted of before. Mind Blown. If someone, including believers, have never tasted the Love of God that person can not possibly hunger for it, thus leading them to a chase-your-own-tale kind of relationship with Holy Spirit. God used the following video to confirm this to me after I had an encounter with Gods Love, and kept trying to give that encounter to someone else with words. check this out!

Song of Songs 1:2

“Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth-for His Love is more delightful than vintage wine.”

If you are uncomfortable with this scripture, it is because you probably have not had a tangible encounter that brings a heavenly perspective of the Fathers Love.

Are you Hungry yet? So how do we get hungry, if we have never tasted? Ask for a taste. No one, just like my wife and my interaction with the crab, can force you to encounter Gods Love. Ask him to do whatever it takes to experience this Love. The bible says, “Nothing can separate you from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus.” That is an awesome promise to take hold of and never let go. I encourage you to contend for this type of encounter with Him.

How do you stir up Hunger? Check out this great advice from Pastor Bill Johnson from Bethel Church in Redding California.

I really couldn’t say it any better. God wants to encounter You far more than you could ever want to encounter Him! He is better than you currently think He is. The whole bible is full of ordinary people finding out that God is way better than they thought He was. When they find out about His love and goodness, they lead others into encounter.

It is impossible for me to release or deliver something to a person or people that I do not carry myself. I am so hungry for the presence of God. Once I tasted from His Loving Presencemy prayer life changed. My number one prayer to this day, is that God would allow me to be a walking encounter to others.

Practical Advice

If I could tell you to do anything to become hungry it would be these three things

  1. Watch testimonies of encounter with Gods Love
  2. Read the word till he speaks to the depths of your spirit.
  3. Worship, Worship, Worship.
