You are not ordinary!
Have you ever watched some one that was so amazing at something that whenever they did what they were amazing at it looked almost effortless? Even though you may have not been interested in what they were doing you still couldn’t help but watch with awe. When I was a kid I was so obsessed with Michael Jordan. His pictures plastered the walls of my bedroom, I had the shoes, and the jersey.
As I grew and matured in life, I realized Jordan was just a man. He woke up in the morning, put His pants on one leg at a time just like me. I believe Jordan was one person who found out what he was put on the earth to do, and it went on to inspire so many, not just in the realm of basketball but also in life. I really do not believe in “Prodigies”.
I think that when you find out what you are passionate about and pursue it with all the passion that surrounds that thing in your heart, you will inadvertently be serving humanity in some capacity. In the book of Romans 8:19:
“For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.”
I believe the world, including humanity, can’t afford another moment to go by without you and I as believers in Jesus to pursue the passions and desires that Holy Spirit put inside of us. Have you thought of what you are actually passionate about? If you are stuck in the rat race of life, and are having a hard time even coming up with what you are passionate about just try and get quiet with the Lord, ask him to show you what actually makes you come alive!
When I was growing up, adults seem to put all of this emphasis into getting through high school, going to college for something that pays well, and getting a job in that field. None of these things are bad things, actually they are all very positive things. I believe it scares people that think about taking a different path than this. I think that when they think about the possibility of being free from this pattern it excites them about the things that come to their mind that might be possible, and at the same time the spirit of fear shows up and shuts these dreams and possibilities down, forcing the people back to the assembly line of what we have come to know as life.
I recently at 36 years of age said, “No More”. My wife and I have began to pursue the two things in life that absolutely make us come alive. I haven’t quit my ‘9 to 5’ yet, but for the first time in our lives we have an exit strategy from a system and plan that some one else choose for us, and are moving toward what makes our heart beat (Health & Wellness, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ)!
I would say that because you are made in the image and likeness of God, you are extraordinary. Does the money thing scare you? It was the lie that held us back for so many years. I really felt like the Holy Spirit said to me, “when you pursue what I created you for, the money will come to you for that is how I designed it”. See money is simply a byproduct of your passion. Pursue your passion, and the money will just begin to find you.
“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him”
Do you delight in Jesus?
Jesus has made all things new for you. We are not to conform to the patterns of this world, but transformed by the renewing of our minds. This is the heart of repentance, and the children of God need to repent in the area of conforming instead of pursuing the very passions Jesus has imprinted on to our hearts!
